What is homecare?

Home care is a service that allows seniors and others with day-to-day assistance needs to remain in their homes as they age or are otherwise unable to perform these tasks themselves.  From help running errands to light housework and reminders to take medicine to hygiene assistance, homecare by EssentialCare helps seniors stay in their homes while allowing their family members peace of mind.

Over 90% of seniors want to stay in their own home as long as possible; there is a certain level of comfort and control in being in familiar surroundings in the later stages of life.  In this setting, however, situations constantly arise that could be made better with a concerned home care professional to assist; even simple things like facilitating a last minute doctor’s appointment, helping to recover from surgery, ensuring personal hygiene, or aid in running errands can strain even the most caring of families without some help.  EssentialCare helps seniors to remain in their home as long as possible, while helping the families who love them to enjoy their time with them to the fullest. up

Why should you want to be in the home care industry?

The National Association of Home Care & Hospice highlights, "...the exponential growth of the home care industry over the next 30 years is NOT going to be in the skilled care services - it WILL be in the non-skilled home care services."up

Can I choose my caregiver?

EssentialCare has some of the strictest hiring standards in the industry, requiring a minimum of two years of experience, exceptional training, a genuine interest in seniors and impeccable personal integrity and interpersonal skills.

When you contact EssentialCare, you will be given a proprietary assessment that helps us to understand the types of services that will be most important to the well-being of your loved one.  This assessment also helps us to know your loved one; what he or she likes or dislikes as well as general personality traits.  This information is then compared to our caregivers’ backgrounds and caregivers are recommended to you who are likely to work well with your loved one.  You are given the option to review a caregiver’s background prior to care beginning, as well as to offer input or request changes at any point.  We view our services as a partnership with you in caring for your loved one, and welcome your input into the satisfaction you experience with your caregiver’s level of service. up

What do Companions and Caregivers do?

Companions and Caregivers assist seniors and others, in their current residences, with activities of daily living (ADLs), which include: bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, etc. They also assist clients with medication reminders, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, and other similar non-medical activities. up

What type of individuals should you hire to be EssentialCare caregivers?

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA's) and Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA's) are well trained to be private duty (non-medical) caregivers. There are also many caregivers who do not have certifications but have experience working with the elderly or disabled. We train you how to recruit, screen, and hire quality caregivers in your local market so that you will have qualified employees representing EssentialCare. up

Do my caregivers need licenses or certifications to provide care services?

This depends on your state requirements and the level of services you provide. If it is a 'Personal Care' Agency, then your state MAY require the employees be certified as a CNA or CHHA. We provide you and your caregivers with access to the EssentialCare Institute (caregiver training that cover non-medical home care training and industry best practices.) If it is ‘Companion Care’, then your employees will not need to be certified as Home Health Aides (CHHA) or Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA). up

Do you need a license to operate a private duty (non-medical) home care agency?

We find that Florida, Texas, New York, and Georgia take additional time and funding to become licensed. If you live in one of those four states you will need to budget around $3,500 to $5,000 for your licensing and 2-6 months to get through the process. You must receive your Articles of Incorporation or Organization from your state before your legal entity is officially approved. New York has a waiting period for licensing. We assist you in creating your legal entity before applying for your license. In most states this usually takes 4-6 weeks. 28 states require non-medical home care agencies to get licensed before operating their business. We assist you with this process. It usually takes 1-3 months to get a license. This means that you should plan 3-4 months before opening. If your state does not require home care agency licensing you should only need about 1-2 months to establish your legal entity. up

Who pays for the service?

Long Term Care Insurance policies (similar to life insurance) pay for these services. Medicaid can provide coverage in some states. Corporate and Government contracts also have partial pay options. Veterans Associations (VA) also provide coverage for most veterans and their surviving spouses. Private pay is another source. Medicare does not provide coverage at this time.up

How much competition should you expect?

According to U.S. Census Bureau projections, a substantial increase in the number of older people will occur until 2030. While there is competition, EssentialCare has found that there is a increased demand for quality, reliable and ethical, home care companies. EssentialCare marketing techniques and programs help you get in doors that may have been closed to other companies allowing for expansion and growth.up

Will you get leads from our web site?

EssentialCare will create your web site landing page and perform 'pay per click' campaigns as part of your opening. EssentialCare has a partnership with two national senior care web sites care.com, and caring.com that provide families a place to find quality home care and produce leads to us for a nominal fee. Families sometimes prefer to go to an unbiased source for recommendations- instead of going online and trying to find a quality company on their own. These online leads can provide leads relatively quickly while you implement our proprietary marketing plan and techniques. This comes from a consistent flow of referrals from healthcare professionals in your community. up

Will we display your territory on the main website?

Yesup

Will you get a territory and do we protect it?

Yes. The territory you have will be the area you choose to service - large or small. A minimum of 250,000 people and a specific geography will be identified and protected. If you feel you would like to grow your business into another geographic region and population, we are happy to help you determine that strategy. If you feel the territory you purchase turns not be what you envisioned, we welcome you to transfer to another available unit; provided you follow the EssentialCare requirements. Being near other EssentialCare units allows for cross-referring from hospitals or skilled nursing facilities. This could generate substantial revenue over time.up

Despite the recession and competition, the founders were able to successfully grow their agency into a million dollar company within 24 months. The founders are now sharing their secrets of success to help others achieve the same revenue in a challenging economy, and provide quality care to local senior communities. up

Is EssentialCare accredited by any agencies?

Accreditation generally costs between $5,000-$7,500 for each individual area of certification. The process is involved but not difficult to complete. It is a similar process to getting a state home care agency license in some states. We welcome our areas to get the accreditation, if they choose, and we assist with the process. Please note, there is no requirement in the non-medical home care industry to have this accreditation. Additionally, the only exception to this rule is the State of Florida. They require a Home Health License (same license for skilled care to perform personal care services and are required to get accredited by one of the three accrediting bodies as part of their licensing requirements. up

Is the senior care industry right for you?

Working in the healthcare industry may not be the right fit for everyone. Our My EssentialCare training assumes our new members know little or nothing about the home care industry. It may be helpful to volunteer at a skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, or senior center to give you a sense of the senior care industry and whether or not you enjoy working with seniors. If you enjoy your experience then you are likely to have the compassion we require to join EssentialCare. Those with compassion will make a great addition to our team. up

How much money do you need to start this business?

You will need $150,000 for the My EssentialCare fee. The fee specifics are identified in the FDD.up

Is a name a big thing in the home-care industry?

There is no such thing as 'branding' in the home care industry. Large franchises will use branding as their biggest leverage to “sell” you their 'branded' name. This is not the case on the ground level. We teach you how to market and you will shortly realize you gain no leverage or unearned respect due to the large franchise name. up

Do you offer mobile alert devices to EssentialCare clients?

Yes, we have an agreement with a national provider of mobile alert devices that each of our clients can access.up

What does EssentialCare offer to help market my business?

We started our own agency at the beginning of a depression (April 2006) in a market with over 200 other existing home care agencies (Phoenix AZ). We were able to achieve a million dollars in annual revenue in our second year. Our business model will help you achieve the same.up

Yes. Depending on your state, they may require their own background check software. If not, we can recommend several solutions for as little as $30 a month for unlimited background checks. up

Do you have access to professional liability insurance to save us money on premiums?

Yes. We have access to a discounted professional liability, non owned auto, and a bonding insurance policy that will save you up to $5,000 in premiums per year versus going out on your own and trying to get such a policy. The premiums are usually $1500 - $1750 per year depending on the location and size of your specific franchise. This means that our franchisees can save several thousand dollars each year.up

Do you offer any alternate revenue streams?

Yes. We teach you how to get paid by assisted living homes and group homes to place residents in their facility. We also teach you how to provide staff for healthcare facilities. These will drive additional revenue for your agency.up

Why should you choose EssentialCare instead of buying policies and procedures and some marketing materials online?

We want you to be successful. We will guarantee your success. We first teach you how and then show you how! Whether it is recruiting the right caregivers, training them, screening them, incentivize them, marketing your area in multiple different ways, EssentialCare will stand by you. We shorten your learning curve and reduce your time stressing about things that will bring you little results. Time will be your biggest asset and need to focus on things that drive revenue and provide quality care. My EssentialCare has a proven business model in place. Issues will arise after you launch that you will need help with and we will get you through it. up

Are your franchisees successful?

Yes. Please call our existing franchisees to find out what their experience has been with EssentialCare. up

How does EssentialCare market differently than my competitor?
